My Reading and Writing Goals for Fall 2017

This semester has gone by pretty darn quickly so far and I don't think I'm ready for it to continue just yet. As I've been in this class, I've learned a lot about tools of rhetoric and persuasion that authors use to influence their audience. I've really enjoyed that so far.

My classes this semester have been intense. I'm a graphic design major so my tests for the past 2 years have been essay, short answer, or even just identify. This semester is a lot of analytical thinking and questioning and has required me to read a lot more than I have time for. These goals are set in order to help me read faster and read better in order to fully understand the concepts that I'm being taught in each class.

Goals for reading and writing:

1. Before reading on, stop and think about the concepts that I just read and make sure I understand completely, even if that means getting out a piece or paper and writing down what I think it means.

2. Write an outline as I read so that I can have better access to reviewing it when it comes time for the tests. Plus I'll remember it better if I write it down.

3. Make more connections with outside readings or experiences that I have so I can contribute more fully to a class discussion.

These goals will hopefully lead to me taking a better grip on my education and help me to get my grades up and understand the things that I am reading and writing about.

Comments

  1. I have never thought about writing an outline for things that I am reading but I can see how that could be beneficial. Has it worked?
